Job Description
Merck seeks a communications intern for summer 2027 to support internal transformation initiatives and AI-related communications efforts. The 12-week role, based in Rahway, NJ with three days weekly on-site, involves collaborating on employee engagement, content development, and communications effectiveness measurement.
Responsibilities
- Support U.S. customer engagement transformation communications strategy execution with traditional and emerging channels
- Apply generative AI tools to research, content development, collaboration and communications work
- Plan and execute employee engagement events, including materials, briefings and video coordination
- Contribute to newsletters and quarterly messages through drafting, sourcing stories and coordinating edits
- Measure communications effectiveness by tracking metrics and synthesizing data into recommendations
Requirements
- Currently in junior year or higher pursuing bachelor's degree
- Available full-time May through August 2027
- Experience with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint or similar collaboration platforms preferred
- Familiarity with generative AI tools and interest in communications applications preferred
- Coursework or demonstrated interest in organizational change, transformation, or healthcare communications preferred
- Strong writing skills translating complex technical information into clear messaging
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, handle ambiguity, and work collaboratively across diverse teams
Compensation: $39,908 - $111,111 USD
